Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Dablew (dablew.in) is an independently operated educational technology platform for Civil Services Examination preparation. References to “Dablew”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy refer to the operators of dablew.in.

2. Information we collect

Account information

Your display name, email address, authentication status, account identifiers and related security metadata. Password authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication; Dablew does not display your password to other users.

Study and submission information

• Questions you enter and PDF answer sheets you upload.
• Text extracted from submitted answers, handwriting-detection results, evaluation outputs, scores, feedback, annotations, evaluated PDFs and generated model answers.
• Your rating of an answer evaluation (Helpful or Not helpful), any reasons you select and any optional comment you submit about it.
• Responses, marks, practice history and progress for interactive daily, sectional, NCERT-based, current-affairs and previous-year-question tests.
• Notebook titles, paper categories, text, bullet points, tables, image captions, uploaded photos, external image links, archive status and save metadata.
• Habit names, completion or missed status, Discipline Dashboard history and summaries.
• Recent Mains activity, evaluated-answer organisation and other progress summaries shown in your account.

Technical and communication information

Basic request logs, timestamps, device or browser information made available through normal web requests, error and security logs, and messages you send to our support address.

Usage records can include page views, referring pages, session identifiers, session duration and feature interactions, linked to your account identifier and email when available. We also record evaluation status, AI model and feature usage, token counts and estimated costs for operational monitoring. Anti-abuse checks may use hashed IP addresses, submission fingerprints and, for the anonymous evaluation trial, a device identifier supplied by Fingerprint.

3. How we use information

• To create and secure accounts, verify email addresses and support password recovery.
• To store, process and evaluate submitted answers and present evaluated PDFs and related feedback.
• To review your optional evaluation ratings, reasons and comments and improve the quality of future evaluations.
• To save and retrieve your notes and uploaded images, organise them by paper, and recover interrupted edits where a browser draft is available.
• To provide question libraries, daily practice, practice history, progress views and the Journal within the Discipline Dashboard.
• To organise evaluated answers by paper and subject so you can revisit them.
• To operate, troubleshoot, protect and improve the service, monitor feature usage and processing costs, and enforce usage limits.
• To respond to support, privacy, abuse and security requests.
• To comply with applicable law and protect users, Dablew and the public.

4. Automated and AI-assisted processing

When you request answer evaluation, your question, uploaded PDF or page images and extracted text may be processed using optical character recognition (OCR) and AI services. These systems may extract the question and subject, classify handwriting, check relevance, assess content, calculate an indicative score and produce feedback and annotations. The model-answer feature sends the necessary question and evaluation context for generation when you click “Learn from the model answer”. Study-habit summaries may also use AI processing.

The Notes feature stores and displays your content; it does not send notebook content to the answer-evaluation AI as part of saving or editing a note.

AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate and should be treated as study guidance, not as an official UPSC assessment or a substitute for a qualified teacher’s judgment. Dablew does not use this evaluation to make legal, employment, credit or similarly significant decisions about you.

5. Service providers and data transfers

We use specialist providers to operate Dablew. Depending on the feature used, information may be processed by:

• Google Firebase for authentication, account records and application data.
• Amazon Web Services, including S3 and Textract, for document, notebook, image and written-review storage, and OCR.
• OpenAI for AI-assisted extraction, relevance checks, evaluations, summaries and model answers.
• Resend for account verification and password-reset email delivery.
• Fingerprint for device-identification checks used to help prevent abuse of the anonymous evaluation trial.
• Vercel for website hosting and delivery.
• Render for backend application hosting.

These providers may process information in India or other countries under their own infrastructure and contractual terms. We share only information reasonably required to provide, secure and support the relevant feature.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate abuse or security incidents, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a genuine reorganisation or transfer of the service with appropriate safeguards.

Stored content and administrator access

Notebooks are saved as private JSON files in S3. Their storage folder uses a sanitised display name together with an account-derived identifier, so matching display names do not share a notebook. Uploaded photos are stored separately and displayed using short-lived access links. Written evaluation reviews are stored as private text files using a sanitised display name, with submission and feedback metadata.

Authorised administrators can inspect account and usage records and open saved evaluation pages, including the evaluated PDF, summary, feedback and any saved model answer. The admin View page is read-only. Notes are not part of this evaluation preview; authorised operators and infrastructure providers may still access stored data as necessary to run and support the service. “Private” does not mean inaccessible to those operators or end-to-end encrypted.

External links and images

A linked image is loaded directly by your browser from its external host, rather than copied into your notebook’s S3 image storage. The host can receive normal connection information, such as your IP address and browser details, even though image requests are configured not to send a referring-page header. The host controls that image’s availability and may change or remove it.

Opening official UPSC paper links, Telegram or other external resources takes you to another service with its own privacy terms. Do not share private account or answer details in a public channel.

6. Cookies and local storage

Dablew and its service providers may use cookies, authentication tokens, local storage, session storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember settings, track sessions and enforce trial or security limits. We do not use this policy to authorise unrelated third-party advertising trackers.

Unsaved notebook changes may be kept in local storage on your device for recovery. A recovery draft is cleared after a successful cloud save, but an unsaved draft can remain after sign-out. On a shared device, check that your work is saved, sign out, and clear this site’s browser data when appropriate. Clearing browser data can also erase unsaved drafts and settings; export or save important work first.

7. Retention

We retain account and study information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Different records may have different retention periods; there is no single published automatic expiry period for all data. We do not guarantee indefinite storage or recovery of every earlier version.

Archiving a note keeps it in your saved notebook. Deleting a photo, bullet, text block or table removes that content from the current note after it saves; Undo can restore a recent removal while that control is available. Removing an uploaded photo does not permanently delete its separate S3 image file. Previous versions, review records, backups or security records may remain subject to the relevant storage and retention arrangements.

You may request deletion of your account or specific personal data by contacting us. We may retain information where legally required or where necessary to prevent fraud, abuse or security incidents.

8. Security

We use access controls, authenticated requests and managed infrastructure intended to protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your password, do not share verification or reset links, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised account access.

9. Your choices and requests

You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information associated with your account, withdraw an optional consent where applicable, or raise a grievance. Send the request from your registered email address to support@dablew.in. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

For notebook or image erasure, specify the relevant note or photo so we can review both the notebook content and its stored assets. The notebook’s JSON export contains text, tables and image references, not the image files themselves; keep separate copies of important photos.

10. Younger users

If you are under 18, use Dablew only with the involvement and permission of a parent or lawful guardian. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and take suitable action.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Dablew’s features, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and change the “last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or account email.
